Susan Williams-Ellis was a Welsh pottery designer, born on June 6, 1918, in Guildford, England, to artist Roger Fry. She was the eldest daughter of architect Clough Williams-Ellis and his wife Amabel. Susan is best known for establishing the pottery company Portmeirion in 1960. After managing a shop in Portmeirion beginning in 1953 with her first husband Euan, she created distinctive ceramic designs that gained significant recognition. She passed away on November 26, 2007.
