She competed for East Germany and started her career at BSG Aktivist Unterbreizbach before representing SC Turbine Erfurt. Jung achieved notable success in 1987, winning a silver medal at the Universiade and securing fifth place at the World Championships in Rome. Additionally, she earned second place at the DDR Championships in 1987, with a personal best throw of 69.60 meters, and finished third in the championship in 1990.
