Anders Sven-Olof Petersson, born March 12, 1947, is a Swedish economist and diplomat. He has served as chairman of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute since 2014. His career at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs began in 1971, with postings including Dar es Salaam, Algiers, and the Swedish delegation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. He was deputy head of mission in Washington from 1989 to 1995 and later held various senior positions in Stockholm and Brussels, culminating as ambassador to Australia until 2014.
