Sylvester Bernard Uphus was an American farmer and politician born on December 29, 1927, near Greenwald, Minnesota. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and later attended the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University. Uphus became a farmer and was active in local politics, serving on the Ashley Township board. He was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives as an Independent Republican from 1983 to 1992. He passed away in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, on January 1, 2017, just after his 89th birthday.
