Born on January 26, 1902, she initiated a mail and passenger service between Adelaide and the Eyre Peninsula in 1928. Renowned for her driving skills and toughness, Birdseye personally maintained her buses and overcame challenging road conditions. Following her husband's death in 1954, she continued to operate the bus service until her stroke in 1962, shortly before her passing. The Birdseye Highway is named in her honor, marking her significant contributions to transportation.
