Sylvia Maria Polso was an American-Finnish accordionist and pianist born on April 1, 1911, in Ironwood, Michigan. She began her music career at age twelve when she started playing both the piano and accordion. Polso gained fame in the 1930s as a member of touring ensembles, eventually becoming known as the 'Greta Garbo of the accordion.' After marrying physician Harold Edenoff, she stepped away from performing, later marrying again to a man named Washburn. She passed away on August 26, 1996, in El Paso.
