Sylwester Chybowski was a Polish chemical engineer and inventor, born on May 26, 1923, in Nowa Wieś. He graduated with a master's degree from the University of Warsaw after starting his studies in 1947. Chybowski was instrumental in developing post-war chemical industry in Poland and worked for many years at the Institute of Organic Industry. He was also a prisoner of Nazi concentration camps at Dachau and Ravensbrück and was buried in Warsaw's Powązki Cemetery.
