Sze-to Che-yan (1923-1990) was a senior police officer in Hong Kong, notable for being the first Chinese officer to be promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Royal Hong Kong Police Force in 1978. He joined the police force as a translator in 1946, rising through the ranks to attain the position of Chief Superintendent and eventually Assistant Commissioner. Throughout his career, he received various honors for his contributions, including the Colonial Police Meritorious Service Medal. His wife, Kwan Pui-ying, was an amateur Cantonese opera singer whose mysterious death in 1975 attracted public attention.
