T. N. Seshan (December 15, 1932 – November 10, 2019) was a distinguished Indian civil servant known for his role as Chief Election Commissioner of India from 1990 to 1996. He was initially Cabinet Secretary to Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1989. Seshan earned the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1996 for Government Service, recognizing his significant contributions to enhancing the electoral process in India. He also contested the presidential election in July 1997 but was defeated by K. R. Narayanan.
