He gained recognition for producing the Sanskrit film Bhagavad Gita, which received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. A member of the Indian National Congress, he served in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, representing Andhra Pradesh. He held the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Mines from 2006 to 2008 and has been involved with various parliamentary committees.
