Taede Sminia is a Dutch emeritus professor of histology, cell biology, and immunology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He began studying medical biology there in 1963 and graduated in 1970. Sminia earned his Ph.D. in 1975 and became a full professor in 1980. He served as the dean of the medical faculty from 1992 to 1999 and held the position of rector magnificus from 1997 until 2006, succeeding Prof. Egbert Boeker. His career has significantly contributed to the fields of medical education and research.
