Taher Abouzeid, also known as the 'Maradona of the Nile', is one of Egypt's most famous football players. He started his career in Assiut before joining Al Ahly, where he made significant contributions to the team. Abouzeid became the top scorer at the 1981 FIFA U-20 World Cup and was the top scorer in the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations. He was known for his powerful shots, notably scoring a memorable goal against the Moroccan goalkeeper in the 1986 Africa Cup of Nations. He also represented Egypt in the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
