Taher Elgamal is an American of Egyptian origin known for his contributions to cryptography and security protocols. He published a scientific paper in 1985 that developed the basis for the Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA), adopted by NIST as a digital signature standard. He worked as Chief Scientist at Netscape Communications (1995-1998), where he was a key developer of the SSL protocol. Elgamal founded Securify in 1998 and served as its CEO. He is currently the CTO and Vice Chairman of Securify and has served on several boards, including Sales Forces.
