Taizō Yokoyama was a Japanese comic artist and cartoonist born on February 28, 1917, in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. He began his professional drawing career in the post-war period and was influenced by his brother Ryūichi, who was also a comic artist. Yokoyama gained recognition with his comic strip series Pūsan, which was published in Mainichi Shimbun in 1950 and earned him the Hiroshi Kikuchi Prize in 1954. Over 39 years, he created approximately 13,500 cartoons for Asahi Shimbun until 1992. He passed away on June 10, 2007.
