He is known for his work as part of the brother duo 'Karibito' alongside his brother, Kunihiko Katō. In recent years, he has also performed solo using the stage name Takamichi. He often writes lyrics and composes music under his real name, but has also utilized other aliases. He remarried actress and talent Atsuko Okamoto in September 2023 after a previous marriage ended in divorce.
