He was inspired to pursue journalism by the renowned photographer Eugene Smith during coverage of Minamata disease. Morieda graduated from Dejima High School and then from International Christian University, focusing on social sciences. His work involves extensive reporting around the world, particularly in Southeast Asia, and he has published numerous writings on food culture. Additionally, he supervised the manga 'Karei naru Shokutaku,' which was serialized in Weekly Young Jump.
