He joined Radio Tokyo (now TBS) as one of its first announcers in 1951 and left in 1959 to become a freelancer, founding Akutagawa Planning. Known for his distinctive narration style called Akutagawa-bushi, he was a pioneering figure in Japan's narration scene. His notable works include 'Kogarashi Monjiro,' 'Hissatsu Series,' 'Journey to the West,' and 'Mito Komon.' He is often referred to as the 'faceless revered actor.' He passed away on October 2, 1990.
