He served as a member of the House of Representatives, Deputy Foreign Minister, and Vice Cabinet Secretary. A strong proponent of international sports exchange, he played a key role in the revival of Japanese baseball after World War II and fostered relations between Japan and the U.S. His contributions to sports led to him being inducted into the American Football Hall of Fame and recognized in the Baseball Hall of Fame for his achievements in promoting baseball and sports diplomacy.
