Takuji Hayata is a retired Japanese artistic gymnast born on October 10, 1940, in Wakayama Prefecture. He is a two-time Olympic champion, having won gold medals at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics in both the rings and team all-around events. He placed 8th in the individual all-around competition. In 1970, he became the world champion in team all-around at the World Gymnastics Championships in Ljubljana and secured a third place on the horizontal bar. In recognition of his achievements, he was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2004.
