Talaat Afifi is an Egyptian academic and politician who served as the Minister of Awqaf in Hesham Qandil's government, the first under President Mohamed Morsi after the 2011 revolution. Born on December 20, 1953, in Giza, he also held the position of first deputy chairman of the Shura Council for Rights and Reform and was the dean of the Faculty of Dawah at Al-Azhar University. His father, Sheikh Mohamed Afifi, was known for his Quranic recitation and instruction.
