He served as a member of the Lok Sabha representing Outer Delhi during the 9th Lok Sabha from December 2, 1989, to March 13, 1991, under the Janata Dal government. Singh is respected in both Delhi and Haryana for his integrity and commitment to social issues, having been introduced to politics by Ch. Charan Singh, the fifth Prime Minister of India. His granddaughter is married to upcoming Jat leader Ch. Ankit Singh Mann.
