Tarmo Salmela (26 February 1948 – 19 March 2012) was a Finnish poet known for his concise, almost aphoristic expression. His debut poetry collection 'Elämäni sirpaleita' received the Mielenterveyden keskusliitto encouragement award in February 2004. His work 'Kalanmaksaöljyä' won the Sampo prize from Suomen pienkustantajat ry for the best lyrical work in 2004. Salmela studied poetry at Oriveden opisto with a scholarship from Mediapinta Oy and was a member of the Finnish Society of Living Poets.
