Theodore John Stepien (1925-2007) was an American businessman and owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 1980 to 1983. His ownership was marked by controversy, resulting in multiple coaching changes and contributions to the franchise's poor performance. His management style led to the establishment of the 'Ted Stepien rule' in the NBA to regulate draft pick trades. After selling his stake in the Cavaliers, he remained active in basketball, owning teams in various leagues and founding the United Pro Basketball League. He passed away in 2007.
