Teddy Kollek (May 27, 1911 - January 2, 2007) was an Israeli politician who served as the Mayor of Jerusalem from 1965 to 1993. He was the founder of the Jerusalem Foundation and was re-elected five times during his tenure. Kollek lost a bid for a seventh term in 1993 at the age of 82. His time in office saw significant changes in Jerusalem, especially after the occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967. He was often referred to by Israelis as 'the greatest builder of Jerusalem since Herod'.
