Teresita (Tezi) Currie Schaffer, born in 1945, is a distinguished diplomat who served in the US Foreign Service for 30 years, including as Ambassador to Sri Lanka and concurrently to the Maldives from 1992 to 1995. She was the Director of the Foreign Service Institute from 1995 to 1997 and held roles such as Director of International Trade and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East and South Asia. Schaffer is also a secretary of The Asia Foundation’s board and a Senior Adviser at McLarty Associates.
