Terrell Edwin Horne III was a senior chief petty officer in the United States Coast Guard, who tragically lost his life on December 2, 2012, while performing his duties to intercept smugglers. With fourteen years of service, he was the second in command of the cutter USCGC Halibut and was aboard a pursuit boat during the operation. He is remembered for his bravery in pushing a coxswain to safety at the cost of his own life. Horne's legacy continues as the Coast Guard announced a Sentinel class cutter would be named in his honor.
