Terry Paul Kubicka is a former American figure skater born on April 3, 1956, in Long Beach, California. He competed in singles and achieved notable success, becoming the U.S. Champion in 1976 and earning Vice Champion titles in 1974 and 1975. Kubicka participated in the World Championships from 1974 to 1976, with his best finish being sixth place at his last event. He also placed seventh at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, where he became the first skater to perform a backward somersault in competition, a maneuver that was banned shortly after.
