Terry S. Dewitt was an American sergeant born in Enid, Oklahoma, on February 25, 1917. He served in the G Company, 401st G.I.R., of the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Market Garden. Dewitt distinguished himself through acts of courage and dedication during the battles near Nijmegen from September 17 to October 4, 1944. Posthumously, he was awarded the title of Knight in the Military Order of William by Queen Wilhelmina on October 8, 1945. He is buried at the American cemetery in Margraten.
