Sir Terence Hardy Waite, born on May 31, 1939, is an English human rights activist and author. In the 1980s, he served as the Assistant for Anglican Communion Affairs for Archbishop Robert Runcie. Waite was an envoy who attempted to secure the release of hostages in Lebanon, where he was himself kidnapped from 1987 to 1991. After his release, he authored a memoir titled 'Taken on Trust' (1994) and has since engaged in various humanitarian and charitable efforts.
