Teruo Uemura (February 22, 1929 - October 11, 2012) was a Soto Zen monk and children's educator born in Nakano, Tokyo. He graduated from Komazawa University in 1951 and later worked as a teacher at Momotaka Elementary School and served as a professor at Tsurumi University Junior College. Uemura held various significant roles, including being the head priest of Hojinji Temple, the chairman of Hojinji Gakuen, and the president of the Japan Buddhist Education Association. He was active in promoting Buddhist cultural education until his retirement in 1985.
