In 1984, he was recognized with an excellence award in the Hoshi Shinichi Short Short Contest, which led him to pursue a career in writing. Okuda made his long-form debut in 1990 with the novel 'Mu no Machi no Satsujin', recognized as part of the 'New Authentic Mystery' genre. Recently, he has contributed to anthologies, including Masahiko Inoue's 'Igyo Collection'.
