She specialized in nuclear medicine and ultrasonics and served as a professor at the University of Tours' medical faculty. Planiol founded the French Society of Ultrasound Applications in Medicine and Biology and also had a passion for poetry, having written and published various poems. She passed away on January 8, 2014, in Varennes.
