Thomas J. Bickerton is an American United Methodist bishop, born on July 2, 1958. Raised in West Virginia, he obtained a BA in Sociology and Psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1980, followed by a Master of Divinity from Duke University in 1983. Bickerton served in multiple churches before being elected bishop in 2004. He served as the presiding bishop of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference and has been involved in church communication efforts. He is married and has four children. Notably, he participated in creating legislation for the United Methodist Church's amicable separation.
