After retiring, he served with the United States Auto Services Association and the Marine Corps University Foundation. He is currently an assistant professor at the University of Saint Leo in Florida, teaching about the Vietnam War, the Middle East, and modern wars. He volunteeered for Operation Desert Shield and received several awards for his service, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
