Thomas Wallgren is a Swedish-speaking Finnish philosopher, activist, and politician born on February 28, 1958. A lecturer and docent at the University of Helsinki, he was active in the Koijärvi Movement during the 1980s and opposed Finland's EU membership. He signed a citizens' initiative in 2015 for a euro membership referendum. Wallgren is known for his environmental advocacy, notably through shareholder activism. He was elected to the Helsinki City Council as a Social Democrat in 2008 and re-elected in 2012, though he lost in the 2019 general election.
