Thord Gustav Palmlund, born May 10, 1931, in Lund, is a Swedish civil servant. He served as the Director-General of the Swedish Immigration Board from 1980 to 1988 and later worked as a UN official at the United Nations Development Programme from 1988 to 2007. Growing up in rural Skåne, he studied at Lund University, obtaining a licentiate degree in philosophy. He chaired the student union at Lund in 1960 and was involved in the establishment of the International University Exchange Fund in 1961, which supported studies for refugees from Southern Africa.
