M. Subramanian Namboodiri, also known as Thuppettan, was a prominent Malayalam playwright from Kerala, India. Born on 1 March 1929 in Panjal, Thrissur district, he worked as a drawing teacher and was influenced by his father's reformative ideas in the conservative Namboodiri community. Thuppettan is celebrated for his engaging plays, including works like Thanathu Lavanam and Marumarunnu. He gained recognition for his collection of short, humorous plays, Vannanthye Kaanam, which earned him the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2003. He passed away on 1 February 2019.
