Thyrsa Frazier Svager (June 16, 1930 – July 23, 1999) was an American academic and one of the first African American women to earn a doctoral degree in mathematics. Born in Ohio, she graduated high school at 16, attended Antioch College in Ohio, and completed graduate studies at Ohio State University. Frazier Svager served as the chair of the mathematics department at Central State University in Ohio for decades, concluding her academic career as chair and dean of academic affairs. A scholarship fund was established in her memory to support African American women studying mathematics.
