He became a Doctor of Medical Sciences in 1967 and was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union starting in 1960. Urghanjyan passed away on October 11, 1984, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR. His contributions to neurophysiology mark his significance in the field of medical science within Armenia and the wider Soviet Union.
