Timothy Cobb, born on March 28, 1964, in Albany, New York, is a prominent American double bassist. He currently serves as the principal double bassist for the New York Philharmonic and has an extensive teaching career. Cobb has been a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music since 1992 and also teaches at several institutions including SUNY Purchase and Rutgers University. He has been the chair of the double-bass department at the Juilliard School since 2002, contributing significantly to music education.
