Шамар Тинлей Кунчаб was the 13th reincarnation of the second oldest lineage of consciously reincarnating Buddhist lamas in Tibet. According to the Karma Kagyu chronicles, he lived less than two years and died without being officially recognized or enthroned. In Buddhism, a short life under highly realized teachers is always viewed in the context of the karma of the students and their relationship with their teacher.
