Porferio Tirador "Gopher" Armstrong (1935-2010) was a Cheyenne-Caddo painter from Clinton, Oklahoma. He developed a passion for art early on and studied at the Concho Indian School. Armstrong exhibited his works extensively across the United States, with significant pieces featured in the collections of the Oklahoma Historical Society Museum and the Joslyn Art Museum. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, he married Dola Jean Tartsah in 1961 and passed away on March 17, 2010.
