Tizirai Annas Gwata is a prominent medical doctor and politician, renowned for being the first black mayor of Harare from 1981 to 1984. He also served as a city councillor for Ward 31 and was the first full-time black lecturer of medicine at the University of Zimbabwe. After completing his tenure as mayor in 1985, he retired from public office to concentrate on his medical practice and farming activities.
