Todor Bakalov was a Bulgarian accordionist, choral conductor, and musicologist. Born on January 25, 1937, in Sliven, he began playing folk music at an early age and made his first recordings in the mid-1950s. Throughout his career, he performed with various groups, including his own, and accompanied renowned singers like Valkana Stoyanova and Yovcho Karaivanov. He was a professor at the Higher Musical Pedagogical Institute and authored several books on the contemporary history of Bulgarian folk music. Bakalov disappeared on October 5, 2017, near the village of Rasnik and has not been found as of 2022.
