Tom Brokaw is an American journalist and television producer born on February 6, 1940. He served as the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News for 22 years from 1982 to 2004. Notably, he was the only person to host all three major NBC News programs: The Today Show, Nightly News, and briefly, Meet the Press. Alongside competitors Peter Jennings and Dan Rather, Brokaw was one of the 'big three' news anchors in the U.S. during the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. He authored several books, winning various accolades including the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
