Thomas William Chantrell was a British illustrator and cinema poster artist born on December 20, 1916, in Manchester. He began his career in advertising as an illustrator and contributed by designing propaganda posters during World War II. Post-war, he became well-known in cinema advertising, especially for creating iconic posters for films such as The King and I (1956), One Million Years B.C. (1966), and Star Wars (1977), along with various Hammer horror and Carry On comedy films. He passed away on July 15, 2001.
