Tom Gompf, born on March 17, 1939, in Dayton, is a retired American diver who competed in the 1960s. He won a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform event at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Gompf studied at Ohio State University and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force after graduation. Following his athletic career, he became a diving coach at the University of Miami from 1971 to 1982 and played significant roles in various Olympic events. He is also credited as a founder of synchronized diving and published his memoirs in 2021.
