Thomas Gregory Michael Hnatiw (1958-2012) was a prominent Canadian motor journalist and live race announcer known for co-presenting the TV show Dream Car Garage on Speed Channel. He became famous for his catchphrase about desirability versus necessity in cars. Over his career, he was involved in producing over 500 automotive shows and was a respected announcer for various racing events. Hnatiw was also a skilled racer himself, achieving the title of Canadian GT3 co-champion in 1998 before his untimely death from kidney failure.
