He served as a member of the Manitoba legislature from 1999 until his defeat in 2016, representing the New Democratic Party. With a Bachelor’s degree from Carleton University, he has experience in the oilfield industry and worked with Canadian companies in Russia. Nevakshonoff held various roles within the NDP caucus and was named deputy speaker in 2011. He is from a Doukhobor family and is married to Rozanne Imlah since 2000.
