Tom Mikael Simons is a Finnish landscape architect born on May 15, 1940, in Stockholm. He graduated as an architect from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1966 and received his licentiate in technology in 1974. Simons served as an associate professor in landscape planning at the same university from 1984 to 1994 and became a professor and head of the architecture department in 1996. He has also held visiting professor positions at various foreign institutions, including the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1989 and 1992.
